The Bluebell Hotel is perfectly situated for walking in Northumberland’s beautiful countryside. Northumberland has without a doubt some of the most magnificent and stunning walks in the country and the Blue Bell Hotel is ideal as a base for couples, families and business people to take advantage of the wide range of available walking routes, from gentle coastal walks to more arduous journeys over the North Pennines and Cheviot Hills.

The Blue Bell Hotel is located on England’s north east coast, an area famed for its miles of often secluded sandy beaches for long tranquil walks and, of course, the unbeatable Northumberland Coast Path which is part of the North Sea Trail. The coastal nature reserves are home to rare birds and wildlife and show the natural world at its most spectacular.

The Northumberland National Park is one of England’s most peaceful and unspoilt National Parks stretching from Hadrian’s Wall to the Scottish border. With grasslands and purple moorland as far as the eye can see, it truly is a walker’s paradise.

The county has two Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the North Pennines is one of them. The rugged scenery and dramatic geology is a haven for walkers from across the globe.

Hadrian’s Wall Country, including the Hadrian’s Wall Path National Trail, is one of Northumberland’s most famous areas and is a corridor of breathtaking landscapes 10 miles on either side of the wall.

It is the largest World Heritage Site in Britain and with Roman civilization dominating the area, dating back 2000 years, the towns of Corbridge, Haltwhistle and Hexham are certainly worth a visit on your walking tour.

For more tantalizing history, named after a 7th century saint, St Cuthbert’s way is a renowned 100km walk through the undulating landscapes between Melrose in the Scottish Borders and Lindisfarne, off Northumberland’s coast.

The contrasting landscapes and scenery of the county are rich in variety for the seasoned walker and also for those wanting to enjoy the scenery on a gentle stroll. The Bluebell Hotel, with its welcoming hospitality and comfortable surroundings, provides the perfect base from which to explore.
